Randy St. Germain, President and co-founder of Dakota Technologies, Inc., developed much of Dakota’s underlying time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) technology while pursuing a M.S. Analytical Chemistry degree at North Dakota State University from 1987 to 1991.
Randy and his colleagues developed the world’s first time-resolved optical screening tool (OST) technology during field trials of LIF at Air Force bases in 1992. Subsequent commercialization of the ROST, UVOST®, TarGOST®, and the DyeLIF™ systems have contributed significantly toward the industry’s ability to properly characterize source term NAPL with LIF. Randy and his team have spent three decades defining hundreds of petroleum, coal tar, creosote, and halogenated NAPL bodies in the subsurface around the world.
